Profile

Jo Small is a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist and Counsellor who works predominantly from a Gestalt perspective. She has experience with adults, adolescents and children where she draws on person-centred and play therapy to discover the best way to work with your difficulties. She has experience in the NHS, Bromley Community Counselling Service and The Awareness Centre and has also worked in charity settings such as Off the Record and Place2be.

Jo has worked with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, self-harm, suicidal ideation, pregnancy and childbirth, trauma, relationship difficulties. She also has extensive experience of supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Jo works holistically to raise your awareness of how you think, feel and act in the present moment. She works supportively to establish a non-judgemental trusting relationship where you can feel safe enough to explore whatever issue you bring to therapy. Through play with younger clients, Jo provides a safe space to express emotions and make sense of difficult feelings.

Jo holds an MA in Gestalt Psychotherapy from London Metropolitan University and the London Gestalt Centre. She also works as a school based Senior Psychotherapist for primary and secondary aged children with significant emotional and behavioural needs. Within this role she works closely with parents, careers and school staff to ensure all round support for the child, and manages a team of therapists providing clinical supervision. She has advanced DBS clearance and extensive safeguarding training.
