Profile
Denise is an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist and a member of UKCP & COSRT. Her training is primarily in Transactional Analysis, also holding Diploma’s in Relationship & Couples Therapy, Integrative Psychosexual Therapy and Pre & Postnatal Therapy. An Advanced Diploma in Eating Disorders, Obesity & Nutrition. Certificates in Humanistic Counselling Skills and Studies, Rewind Trauma Technique and Loss & Bereavement Therapy.
Denise works in private practice at locations in Central London, Clapham and Wanstead alongside her work online. She also has previous experience working with NHS, IAPT patients, as well as with patients in rehab and ‘half way house’ settings in London.
Denise’s approach to therapy is humanistic and in line with the Transactional Analysis philosophy that ‘People are born OK’ and have an inner ability to grow towards health, self-realisation and well-being. Denise believes in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. Her view is that present issues are often linked to repressed experiences from childhood or traumatic events that were not able to be understood, empathised with and resolved – leading to limiting beliefs about self, others and life.
Within the caring, non-judgemental and empathic stance of the therapeutic relationship, clients can learn to better understand and accept themselves, and feel empowered to make new fulfilling choices about their life.
Denise has experience working with individuals, couples and groups within areas including anxiety, depression, abuse, low self-esteem, loss, fertility, postnatal depression, menopause, eating disorders and couple, relationship, sex and sexuality issues. Her aim is to facilitate a safe, trusting and authentic therapeutic environment that can help clients explore freely their difficulties as well as challenge their limiting beliefs and unhelpful relationship patterns.
